Due to the ongoing inclement weather circumstances, VMISD will be closed on Wednesday, February 1st. We will continue to monitor weather conditions moving forward in order to make a determination about the status of school for Thursday, February 2nd. Please look for updates as this is a fluid situation at this point. Thank you for your patience, and please stay safe and warm!

While observing the current forecast and future radar for our area, there is a significant likelihood for freezing rain and/or wintry mix this afternoon and throughout Tuesday morning. These possible conditions would make it risky for afternoon transportation for our students, families and staff members. With safety being the primary concern for our stakeholders, we will be having an early release today, January 30th at 1:30 pm.
Valley Mills ISD will also be closed Tuesday, January 31st. We will be paying close attention to the forecast in order to make a determination about Wednesday, February 1st. It is our hope that this advanced notice will allow our stakeholders to prepare and make plans for the possible inclement weather. Stay safe, Eagles!

Valley Mills ISD hires new Director of Safety and Security

Texas Education Code (TEC) requires districts to complete safety and security audits of their facilities at least once every three years (37.108(4)(b)) in accordance with procedures developed by the Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) or a person listed on the registry maintained by the TxSSC. A summary of the findings is then submitted to the TxSSC and incorporated as aggregate data into a statewide report for the public. Please take a few minutes to complete this stakeholder survey for collected data to be included in the district audit report.

Today at Valley Mills JH/HS, there was an unscheduled fire evacuation. The alarm was inadvertently triggered by steam rising from the dishwasher in the cafeteria kitchen. All fire evacuation procedures were followed and no students or staff were in danger. Law enforcement was contacted and arrived promptly to assist the situation. The situation was determined to be cleared, and students returned to their classrooms as normal.

Announcement: Valley Mills Elementary was alerted by our School Resource Officer that there was a possible threat outside of the school at the Backroads Food and Fuel.
