Due to the extreme windchill forecast for Wednesday and Thursday mornings, we are implementing additional safety measures to ensure the well-being of all students. We kindly ask that all bus riders remain indoors until the bus arrives at their designated stop. This precaution is essential to protect our students from the harsh weather conditions. Please be advised that, in light of these extra precautions, buses may experience slight delays and could arrive a few minutes later than usual at each stop. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of our students during this extreme weather event. *We will be keeping a close eye on the predicted precipitation this evening and overnight. Should road conditions deteriorate and become unsafe for travel, VMISD will make another announcement regarding school operations for Wednesday, February 19.

Out of an abundance of caution, school is canceled for Tuesday, January 21st. Please be safe and stay warm!

After reviewing the latest local forecast, and as a precautionary measure, VMISD will be having a delayed start on Tuesday, January 21st. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. and classes will begin at 10 a.m. in order to allow for safe transportation for staff and students. Buses will run 2 hours later than usual, and no breakfast will be served. We will continue to monitor weather/road conditions through the night and into the morning and update you with any changes if necessary.

As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, November 11th and Tuesday, November 12th.

VMISD is thrilled to announce that the Valley Mills High School band has achieved an outstanding milestone by securing 1st place in the Area D marching contest! This remarkable accomplishment not only showcases the hard work and dedication of our talented students and their directors but also advances them forward to compete at the state contest. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and wish them the best of luck as they represent our school and community on this prestigious stage. We would like to remind all parents/guardians that Valley Mills ISD will be closed on Monday, November 11th, for a student/staff holiday. Furthermore, in light of the band’s recent success, we are pleased to announce that Valley Mills ISD will also be closed on Tuesday, November 12th. We encourage everyone to celebrate this victory and support our band members as they prepare for their upcoming competition. As it stands currently, we have enough days allotted that taking this day will not result in our school district having to use a bad weather day to make the time up. However, if circumstances arise in the future that cause school closures, there is a possibility that this day will have to be made up.

Registration for new students to Valley Mills ISD is now open. Paper packets can be picked up and completed at both the elementary and JH/HS campuses. Additional documents required at the time of registration: birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residency, social security card, and enrolling parent/guardian's driver's license. Registration for returning VMISD students will open on Parent Portal after the summer PEIMS rollover on July 23. More information will be communicated as that date nears.

District and campus offices will be closing at 11:30AM today (Friday, May 31st).

Let me first thank all of our stakeholders for helping make this another amazing school year! I want to inform you, that the district will be closed on Friday, May 17th, and will reopen on Tuesday, May 21st. Due to current road conditions and taking into account the future potential forecast, Valley Mills ISD is canceling classes for tomorrow May 6th. VMISD administration will be out tomorrow checking roads and developing potential alternative routes if needed for Tuesday morning. We will continue to provide updates as we move forward into tomorrow. The safety of our students and staff is our first priority. Please stay safe and we will resume classes on May 7th. Valley Mills ISD will offer FREE (18 years and younger) breakfast and lunch meals this summer on the following days: May 20-24, May 28-31, June 3-6, June 10-13, June 17-20 and June 24-27. Breakfast will be served from 7:30AM to 8:00AM. Lunch will be served from 11:05AM-11:35AM. All meals will be provided at the Valley Mills Elementary cafeteria. Valley Mills ISD has decided to put up temporary barriers around our campuses in order to protect our school grounds. By erecting temporary barriers, Valley Mills ISD aims to control access to the school premises and prevent unauthorized individuals from entering the campus during the eclipse event. These barriers will be removed on Tuesday, April 9th, and we will reopen access of the school grounds to the public. Thank you for your cooperation during this historic event.

At last night's regular meeting, the board of trustees voted to amend the 2023-2024 school calendar to reflect April 8th as a student and staff holiday. There will be no school on April 8th. With the information provided from the City of Valley Mills and the Bosque County Sheriff's Department, and looking at the logistics of the upcoming eclipse event, the VMISD board of trustees unanimously approved the alteration of the current school calendar in order to avoid unforeseen circumstances.

We are pleased to announce that the repairs to the gas leak have been successfully completed. VMISD is happy to inform all students, parents, and staff members that school will reopen on Monday, January 29th as scheduled. All classes and activities will resume as usual, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to a safe and secure learning environment.
